Shonan: sea, island, railway.

38 frames from Katase Beach, Enoshima and along the Enoden line, following one stretch of coast from late afternoon into the night. The full body of work is in the portfolio; the airport shoots have their own pages for Haneda and Itami.

Shooting Notes

Shonan: the sea, the island and the railway

From Katase Beach to Enoshima and along the Enoden line: three very different subjects within walking distance of each other.

Katase Beach

A shallow beach where people sit naturally in the frame. The colour starts moving about thirty minutes before sunset, and Enoshima turns to a backlit silhouette.

Enoshima

Frame the island from the mainland, or cross over and photograph the torii and the approach. Wide and close give you two different pictures of the same place.

Along the Enoden

The line comes alive after dark. Crossing signals and platform lights are enough to carry a frame. Everything here is shot from public roads and stations, never from the tracks.

Commissions: landscape shoots start at ¥22,000 (tax incl.) for half a day. Tell me where and when, and we build the plan from there.
