Itami Skypark, afternoon to night.

33 frames shot at Itami Skypark, beside Osaka International Airport, over a single day in August 2026, from afternoon light to the terminal after dark. Each frame carries the settings used. The full body of work is in the portfolio, and there are separate pages for Haneda and Shonan and Enoshima.

Shooting Notes

Spots and light at Itami Skypark

The same day gives you completely different photographs depending on where you stand and when.

On the hill

A ridge running alongside the runway. You can line up a climbing aircraft with the Rokko mountains. A 70-200mm is enough; head-on approaches were framed at the 200mm end.

Sunflower field

Sunflowers bloom here in summer. Focus on the flowers with the airport behind, or focus on the aircraft and let the flowers blur in front: the choice depends on what the photo is for.

30 to 50 minutes after sunset

Blue still lingers in the sky and balances the terminal lights. On this day that was around 7pm. A tripod raises your hit rate.

Gear and settings on the day: Nikon Z6III. Daytime at 1/500-1/1000s, f4-f5.6, ISO 100; panning at 1/40-1/60s, f8; the terminal after sunset at around 1/8s, f4, ISO 800.
