Red Brick and Shinko Pier
The plaza sits right on the water, so both wide and close work. On days when a liner is berthed, lining it up with the Bay Bridge says "port" immediately.
23 frames from Minato Mirai, the Red Brick Warehouses and around Osanbashi Pier: the harbour by day, the skyline at dusk, the Ferris wheel after dark, all within walking distance. The full body of work is in the portfolio.
Shooting notes: Two lenses for one harbour
Where you stand and when you go changes the picture completely.
The plaza sits right on the water, so both wide and close work. On days when a liner is berthed, lining it up with the Bay Bridge says "port" immediately.
About thirty minutes before sunset the Landmark Tower and the Ferris wheel settle into silhouette. Stand on the water side and face west.
The wheel and the city illuminations overlap for a few weeks. On New Year's Eve the plaza empties out enough to shoot it with no one in frame.
